Brothers at the Mandel JCC's Leonard Krieger Cleveland Jewish Film Fest
Year: 2008 Genre: Drama Country: Switzerland Language: Hebrew with subtitles Length: 116 minutes Director: Igaal Niddam
Dan, a kibbutznik, and his deeply religious brother, Aaron, a distinguished lawyer based in New York, meet in Israel after many years of estrangement. Aaron is invited to Jerusalem to defend a group of Yeshiva students who have refused military service in the IDF. The conflict between the two brothers reflects a society torn between its religious and political principles. This film reveals an essential debate on the question of the separation of state and religion in Israel.
