Anita at the Mandel JCC's Leonard Krieger Cleveland Jewish Film Fest
Year: 2009 Genre: Drama Country: Argentina Language: Spanish with subtitles Length: 105 minutes Director: Marcos Carnevale
The world of a girl with Down syndrome topples and propels her on a life-changing journey in this poignant family drama. Anita Feldman is lovingly cared for by her mother (Oscar nominee Norma Aleandro in Only Human) and spends weekdays helping her run a small stationery store in their Jewish neighborhood. Everything changes on July 18, 1994, when a car bomb explodes outside the AMIA Jewish community center, killing 85 people and injuring hundreds. Disoriented in the wake of the attack, Anita
wanders the city in search of her missing mother, touching the lives of those around her while learning to care for herself. Best Picture and Audience Award winner at the 2009 Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival.
