Who would have believed it? American football is now being played in Israel. Today, football in Israel is thriving, with 11 teams and over 600 amateur players from a cross-section of Israeli society, including Arabs, Christians, secular and Orthodox Jewseven Palestinians.
In this Israeli documentary similar to Hard Knocks, sports is the common bond; religion and nationality matter not. Some players wear their helmets over their kippot. Others daven before the game begins.
But all are brought together by the common language of football. In a country where off-the-field rivalries run deep, Touchdown Israel celebrates the unifying power of sports amidst the broad religious and cultural diversity of Israel.
