Transit, Philippines' entry for Best Foreign Language Oscar, examines the lives of Filipino domestic workers in Israel.
It is told from the points of view of several of the characters: Janet, a domestic worker and mother to Yael, a teenager born in Israel of an Israeli father; Janet's boyfriend Moises who takes care of a disabled Israeli and is attempting to keep his 4-year old son Joshua from being deported; and Tina, a recently arrived Philippino maid. The film examines the social and economic struggles facing displaced people across the globe and how immigration laws affect human relationships.
