Olor a Mujer, Maria Volonte in Concert
Argentine singer/songwriter Maria Volonte returns to La Pena to celebrate feminine creativity in a new show that brings together the works of great Latin American composers (Violeta Parra, Eladia Blazquez, Chabuca Granda, and Consuelo Velazquez, among others) with her own recent compositions. Featuring: Maria Volonte, vocals & guitar and Kevin Carrel Footer, harmonica.
After conquering the world of tango with six award-winning CDs (including Tango and Other Passions, named one of the Top 100 Tango Recordings of All Times by the La Nacion newspaper), Maria is now exploring the fusion of Argentine music with Latin American rhythms, jazz and blues.
A Latin Grammy nominee, Gardel Prize winner (Argentina Grammy) and member of the Tango Hall of Fame, Maria Volonte combines a love of her Argentine roots with an absolutely personal approach to music "result of a life lived intensely as a woman and as an artist" that has fascinated critics and audiences around the world.
