Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra - Family Concert
Carnival of the Animals ................ Camille Saint-Saens Divertissement .............................. Jacques Ibert
"Personages with long ears," "Fossils," and "The Swan," among others, will all be on stage when the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra presents "Carnival of the Animals" at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 15. This Family Concert features not only Saint-Saƫns' beloved "The Carnival of the Animals," brought to life by the graceful members of the Elmhurst Dance Theater in colorful costumes, and a narrator from First Folio Theatre Company, but will also treat audience members to Ibert's hilarious "Divertissement", first performed in 1930 in Paris the piece "almost overflows with wit and high spirits," and contains clever musical comments woven throughout.
This will be a program sure to delight all ages. An instrument "Petting Zoo" and other activities especially for children will precede the entertaining afternoon (1:45-2:45pm). The "Zoo", hosted by Elmhurst's much loved Luscombe Music, will offer a unique hands-on opportunity to try the different instruments of the orchestra. This will be an unforgettable experience for concertgoers of all ages, a feast for the eyes and the ears!
Elmhurst Dance Theatre is the resident performing company of DuPage Dance Academy entertaining audiences in the Elmhurst area for over 35 years.
First Folio Theatre is in its 17th season of bringing high-quality performances of Shakespeare and other classics to the Chicagoland suburbs.
