HEADLINING PERFORMER STU FUCHS is a modern day Pied Piper, passionate about bringing musical play into everyone's life. He delights in entertaining audiences at festivals and, though his innovative workshops, introducing people of all backgrounds to their "long lost musician" from Fortune 500 company executives, school children, and participants at Yoga retreats.
For over six years Stuart has worked as an artist in residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute leading patients, families and hospital staff in the creative process for well-being and emotional release. He has been a featured TedX speaker and was recently awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for composing healing music for and with cancer patients.
He is typically joined with his partner Sarah Siri Kirtin Carlisle on the upright bass & guitar. In recent years he has made a name for himself on the national ukulele scene through his jaw-dropping concerts and playful workshops, where participants learn to grasp onto difficult concepts with greater ease and more joy. OPENING PERFORMERS
GERALD ROSS is a favorite of Mighty Uke Day audiences and has created a style uniquely his own by blending the sounds of jazz blues and swing. Whether he is playing jazz standards, popular favorites, delta and urban blues, Tin Pan Alley melodies, New Orleans rhythms or boogie woogie, it's bound to be a delightful surprise to any listener. He has the rare ability to transmit an infectious good humor to his audience through a tasteful combination of outstanding instrumental talent and an eclectic repertoire. http://www.geraldross.com/
SUSAN PICKING is a piano playing, ukulele strumming, award winning singer/songwriter. Yes, Picking is her real name. She's released two full length CDs Down in Your Soul and Wonder in the Wander and won the Montpelier (VT) Singer/Songwriter Contest in 2014. Picking is currently at work in the studio recording two projects, one a children's album for and the other about shoes. ANDY WILSON is a founding member of the Michigan folk revival band, Steppin' In It, nationally-known for his work on harmonica, trumpet, and accordion. After starting work at Elderly Instruments in 1998, he became intrigued with the ukulele and added it to his arsenal. A student of jazz, Andy finds his inspiration in the music of uke greats Lyle Ritz and Ohta San and is constantly exploring new territory with the instrument. Andy regularly performs with his wife Julianna as The Springtails and will also be appearing on the Featured Performer Stage Saturday afternoon with the Wilson Family Band.
