Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 6th year, this monthly (every 3rd Thursday) comedy show features an eclectic mix of comedians.
This month features: Maureen Langan, Dan St. Paul, Carla Clayy, Bob McIntyre, and Lisa Geduldig.
Maureen Langan is a New York City-based stand up comic who grew up with an Irish immigrant mother, garbage man father, and five siblings in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, where there is no lake. She's a regular at Carolines on Broadway in New York City, one of the country's premiere comedy clubs, and performs all over the US, Canada, and the UK. Maureen was one of only a handful of woman to finish in the top three in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. Ellen DeGeneres was another. Maureen is the recipient of the prestigious MAC (Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets) Award for Best Female Comic. She won BEST of the FEST at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and was one of two American comics featured at the prestigious Montreux Int'l Comedy Festival in Switzerland in Dec 2014. She has appeared on The Joy Behar Show, Comics Unleashed, and HBO. She is a regular contributor to HLN, FOX News, and MSNBC. She is an award-winning broadcast journalist who has hosted her own national TV and radio shows. Dan St. Paul, after a 7-year stint headlining SF clubs in the comedy duo Murphy-St. Paul, launched out on his own with a solo act that landed him in the finals of The SF Comedy Competition. Having grown up in San Francisco's Mission District, Dan moved to LA and appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. He appeared in the movie "Flubber" with Robin Williams and signed a recording deal with MCA records. His CD, "Natural and Good for You" contains one the most requested comedy pieces on radio, "The First Baseball Game." He also is the star of his own one-man play, "Outer Mission, Middle Class - The Comic Diary of an Immigrant's Son." Corporate clients include Hewlett Packard, IBM, Intel, Nations Bank, Philips Magnavox, Chevron, Blue Cross, and many, many more. Carla Clayy is a native San Franciscan who has spent the last several years making people laugh all over the country. She won the Marshall's Women in Comedy Competition in 2001 and was awarded a guest spot at its Marin County show, sharing the stage with Paula Poundstone, Joy Behar, and Rene Hicks. Carla is a regular at The Punchline, Cobb's, and comedy clubs in such hotspots as Modesto and Chico and shared the stage with Robin Williams.
Bob McIntyre is a part time comic storyteller and full time waiter who recently wrapped up his run as Jerri Blank in a live rendition of a staged production of "Strangers with Candy" at the Exit Theater. He is the co-founder of Dreams on the Rocks Productions which will be producing several plays this year including Barbarella, Beetlejuice, and the return of Strangers With XXXMas Candy this December. He's single.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 23rd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar. Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis: $7 to $20.
