SLOW FOOD ASHEVILLE GOURMET DINNER & SILENT AUCTION
Eight WNC food producers have been accepted as delegates to the international Slow Food conference being held this October in Turin, Italy. Attending the Terra Madre conference will give these small business people an opportunity to learn from other sustainable food producers from around the world and bring this knowledge home to WNC. The September 18 event will help local delegates with travel expenses to the conference.
Fundraiser guest chef, Mark Rosenstein (founder of The Market Place restaurant), has a medieval fantasy of flame-kissed offerings planned. All will be scratch-made with organic, local ingredients. The "Mountain Fire" menu will include Slow-Roasted Porcetta, Chargrilled Chili-Rubbed Chicken, Woodfired Breads, Riot of Fall Salad, Woodfire-Baked Ratatouille, Sicilian Cannoli, Rustic Apple Tarts, and Fresh-Pressed Apple Cider.
Sunswept Farm Conservancy will be hosting this farm-to-table event in beautiful Spring Creek, Madison County, near Max Patch and Pisgah National Forest.
Arrive early to tour Sunswept -– a small family farm at its heart, predominantly powered by water and sun, and surrounded by 68 acres of Forever Wild forest land. Try your hand at the antique cider press, preview the crafts and services offered for silent auction, or just relax dangling your feet off the pond dock while enjoying the mountain views.
Silent auction preview will start at 3pm and dinner will begin at 5:30pm. Bring warm clothes as the high-elevation evenings can be cool. Event tickets are $45.
Donations for the auction are still being solicited and volunteers will be needed September 16-18 for food preparations, service, and clean-up. Please inquire about reduced ticket prices in exchange for volunteering.
