The Agony and Ecstasy of Phil Spector
Arena Theater will present Rock'n Roll Thursdays in September with the screening on four consecutive Thursdays of recently released movies featuring rock'n roll legends The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and Phil Spector.
On Thursday, September 23, the series continues with "ÂThe Agony and Ecstasy" of Phil Spector, the 2009 documentary scheduled for theatrical release in September. The film chronicles the career of American music pioneer Phil Spector, a legendary producer to John Lennon and Tina Turner and, as of April 13, 2009 a convicted murderer. Yet the Spector who appears in Vikram Jayanti's 102 minute documentary is not the severe, outlandishly coiffed defendant seen in sensationalistic accounts of his trial, but a charming, savvy music executive with a generous, but arguably accurate, estimation of his place in the history of popular music. The film features archive footage of The Righteous Brothers, Ike Turner and Tina Turner. Tickets are $8.00.
All shows begin at 7:30 PM and doors open at 7:00 PM. The Arena Theater Bar and the snack stand will be open. All tickets are available at www.arenatheater.org and at the door.
Arena Theater is located at 214 Main Street, Point Arena, California. Arena Theater is a member-supported community theater owned and operated by the Arena Theater Association, a 501 (c) (3) not for profit corporation. For additional information visit: www.arenatheater.org
