Comedy Returns to El Rio! (Mon, Sept 13)
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents...
Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Every 2nd Monday of the month @ 8pm at El Rio.
The next show is Monday, Sept 13th.
Comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy) began her stand up comedy career 21 years ago at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District. She strives to produce multicultural, multi-everything comedy shows with the variety of shows she produces each year (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz, The Color of Funny). The line-ups are always a diverse cultural, gender, and sexual orientation mix, and her comedy productions showcase some of the funniest and smartest stand up comics from San Francisco and beyond.
The Monday, Sept 13th show features:
Dan St Paul, Yayne Abeba, Aundre the Wonderwoman, Joe Nguyen, & Lisa Geduldig.
DAN ST PAUL, after a 7-year stint headlining SF clubs in the comedy duo Murphy-St.Paul, launched out on his own with a solo act that landed him in the finals of The SF Comedy Competition. Having grown up in The Mission, Dan moved to LA and appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, numerous shows on VH-1, MTV, and Comedy Central. He has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, and others. A lot of Dan's material comes from being a suburban husband and father.
AUNDRE THE WONDERWOMAN set her sights on political humor from the beginning. She uses the stage as her bully pulpit, taking on everything from presidential politics to animal lovers. She took first place at the 1999 Russian River Resort Comedy Competition, was a semi-finalist in the 2005 SF Comedy Competition, and is the recipient of the 2008 Stand Up For Justice Award from Death Penalty Focus for her legal work against the death penalty.
YAYNE ABEBA is a native San Franciscan of Ethiopian descent. She began studying acting at the Jean Shelton Actor's Lab in 1995 and was bitten by the comedy bug four years later at The Luggage Store. Realizing that there was no cure, she accepted her fate and has since been touted as one of San Francisco's up and coming comedians. Her style is fresh, innovative, cutting edge and just damn funny. She won The 2002 Russian River Comedy Competition and competed in several San Francisco International Comedy Competitions as well as the Seattle Comedy Competition.
JOE NGUYEN, growing up in Georgia as the child of a Vietnamese refugee father and a Jewish mother, was destined to be a comedian. After attending Pomona College in Southern California, he moved to San Francisco and began performing stand up comedy. His smart writing, likeable stage presence, and broad range of joke topics make Joe a crowd favorite, appealing to audiences of all backgrounds. Joe is the producer and co-host of Scantily Clad Comedy, a weekly showcase at the Clubhouse in San Francisco every Friday night at 9pm. www.vietjew.com
