South Jersey Pops Orchestra Goes to the Movies 3-8-2015
The South Jersey Pops will perform music from the movies on Sunday, March 8, at Shawnee High School, 600 Tabernacle Rd., Medford. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 3:00 p.m.
Conductor and Music Director Robert Schiavinato has programmed a range of musical offerings from the big screen. Mr. Schiavinato has paired classics such as "Moon River" and "Over the Rainbow" with contemporary themes from the Harry Potter films and "The Hobbit."
With Bach's Double Violin Concerto, heard in Woody Allen's "Hannah and Her Sisters," the Pops will pay tribute to the role classical music has played in film.
"We are thrilled to showcase our outstanding Concertmaster Cheryl Reifsteck and her talented student, Emmanuel Houndo, in this beautiful piece" said Mr. Schiavinato.
Tickets are $8 for adults. Children of middle-school age and younger are admitted free.
In the event of snow, the concert may be postponed to 7p.m. Monday March 9 at Marlton United Methodist Church, 2 Marlborough Ave, Marlton NJ. Please check our website www.southjerseypops.org in the event of inclement weather for updates.
