Meridian Music Presents: Surface Tensions (with Gretchen Jude, Peiling Kao & Kevin Corcoran)
Join us for a special collaborative and interdisciplinary presentation of Meridian Music: Composers in Performance.
In advance of this performance, composer Gretchen Jude will send a diptych of visual score postcards by mail to musician Kevin Corcoran and dancer/choreographer Peiling Kao. They will then come together at Canessa Gallery for a trio performance that will explore in new ways the lines between improvisation and composition, dance and music.
Each artist will receive one half of Gretchen's diptychPeiling will use her half of the score as the seed for movement/choreography while Kevin will respond to the score with musical/compositional ideas for percussion and voice. Though each part of Gretchen's score is unique in process and medium, the creative work of Peiling and Kevin will embody a sense of unity throughout the performance, so that no performer overpowers the other on stage.
