Synapse Arts - New Works

Synapse Arts presents New Works, four contemporary dances mapping personal explorations of oneself and
ones relationships via expressive movement. Artistic Director Rachel Damon and Lauren Warnecke each present
works in various states of progress. In addition to Damon and Warnecke, company members Katie Matteson,
Chloe Nisbett, Laura Tennal, Amanda Timm, Vienna Willems, and Johannah Wininsky perform, with additional

contributions from Composers Noe Cuellar and Timothy Russell, and Costume Designers Jessi Taylor and Wendy
Park. Both choreographers introduce scenic elements in their work to layer the evening. Having previously
worked exclusively on project-based performances, this full-length concert is the culmination of Synapse's first
venture in holding twice-weekly classes and rehearsals for a company of dancers.

Synapse Arts Collective (Artistic Director: Rachel Damon) is a Chicago-based performance group that utilizes a holistic approach to creating dance, performance and visual art. Synapse works to create experiences that encourage the artist and viewer to question their social perceptions. Our motive is to craft active collaborations which evoke critical thought, raw emotion, and fresh inspiration in its witness.
