Whether it's your first Vienna experience, or a return to fond memories while gaining new ones, Oklahoma Christian University's Alumni Office is excited to announce its first annual VIENNA ALUMNI ADVENTURE.

WHERE
Das Millicanhaus, Grünentorgasse 30, 1090 Vienna, Austria. The recently remodeled Das Millicanhaus (owned by OC, referred to as 'the Haus') offers inviting one and two-room apartment options as well as spacious community areas in an excellent location in central Vienna.
The Haus is only one block from the Danube Canal in a quaint, quiet neighborhood with restaurants and grocery stores. It's less than one block from the Rossauer Lände U-Bahn (subway) station, and also the "D" Tram streetcar stop, which connects you to the entire city. The Ringstrasse (the Imperial Boulevard circling the inner city) is a seven-minute walk from the front door of the Haus, and St. Stephens Cathedral, the very heart of Vienna, is only 3 U-Bahn stops away.
THE PLAN
We realize there will be expert Vienna travelers, novices, and 'explorers' on the trip, and that your plans may include your own activities for the week. Wonderful! The Vienna Alumni Adventure combines the convenience of scheduled, pre-paid morning activities led by Ken Adams with the flexibility of unstructured afternoons and evenings.
In addition, each afternoon Ken will lead an optional outing open to all participants to a chosen Viennese site. Or, you may want to use afternoons to explore on your own.
OC IS HOME, BUT IS THIS TRIP FOR YOU?The Vienna Alumni Adventure will take us into Viennese culture outside the tourist bubble. It will be a great STUDENT-TYPE EXPERIENCE FOR ALUMNI, emphasizing discovery and adventure rather than creature comforts.
THIS MEANS: no daily housekeeping service, no TVs in guest rooms, and no air conditioning in most rooms. Vienna can be quite warm in the summer, but all rooms have exterior windows and fans can be made available. If you're used to a cold air-conditioner at nighttime, the temperature may be warmer than usual for you. Most travel will be on the U-Bahn, Vienna's magnificent subway system, with a good deal of walking and climbing steps on all outings.
BUT, it also means this will be a great trip of DISCOVERY from a wonderful location with morning presentations, outings and special events led by a professor well-versed in Viennese culture and experience. And your afternoons and evenings will be open. You can plan your own activities, rest at the Haus, or participate in optional group outings. All of this gives you the most for your travel dollar!
We are excited that sharing common housing will afford us opportunities for worship, visiting and sharing our OC and Vienna experiences.
LODGINGS AT THE HAUS
The Haus offers access to free Wi-Fi in common areas, washers and dryers, 4 iMac stations, printer/scanner, a community living/conference area with full size kitchen and dining facilities.
Large, flat screen televisions with Apple TV and associated high-definition options are available on the ground floor as well as board games and DVDs. A ping pong table is available in the basement.
The lodgings at Das Millicanhaus accommodate individuals, couples, families and reunion groups. While as student housing, the Haus does not feature certain hotel style in-room amenities (see above), this beautifully renovated structure has received rave reviews from recent OC alums who have stayed there and experienced its many benefits.
PRE-PAID GROUP ESCORTED ACTIVITIES
Morning outings will include the most popular Vienna attractions such as the Ringstrasse, Schönbrunn palace and gardens, St. Stephens Cathedral, the Third Man Tour, the Augarten Porcelain Factory and Museum tour with lunch.
Whether you're a first time visitor or a returning traveler, you'll find these experiences unforgettable! Additionally, the VIENNA ALUMNI ADVENTURE PACKAGE includes a welcome reception and dinner, a special lunch and a farewell dinner. (Note: Unforeseen circumstances may necessitate substitution of activities of equal or greater value.)
OPTIONAL AFTERNOON ESCORTED ACTIVITIES
Some of these excursions are free and some have additional admission fees. They will include such sites as Karlskirche, the Belvedere Palace with Klimt paintings, Sigmund Freud Museum, Mozarthaus, the Kunsthistoriches (Art History) Museum, and a visit to Vienna's Central Cemetery where Viennese masters such as Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert and Strauss are buried.
AIR TRAVEL
To allow for use of air miles, fare shopping and flexibility in schedules, participants will book and pay for their own airfare. We will not be traveling to and from Vienna as a group. WE'LL MEET AT THE HAUS on July 3.

Your airfare and airport transportation are not included. Prices are based on a minimum of two persons per room (like a cruise cabin) and upon Das Millicanhaus' full occupancy.
Costs are reduced for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th person in rooms and suites, as specified. Singles also pay the second person package price. Room types are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

All rooms must be vacated on July 10. If you wish to stay beyond the 10th, please check with the Alumni Office to see if the Haus has available space.
REGISTRATION/DEPOSIT/PAYMENT INFORMATION: Because space is limited to only 16 rooms, our deposit and refund policy is necessarily strict. We allow three days from time of reservation to make sure the airfare you desire is available. (Most airlines permit cancellation within 24 hours of booking a flight, even if it is a non-refundable fare.) Check your airline policies and schedules before you book!
A $250 deposit per person is required at the time of your online reservation and booking. After you have registered and made your deposit, you will receive a unique password that will give you access to your account. You can make your final payment at any time prior to the deadline of April 1, 2015.
The schedule of payments and refunds is as follows:
Deposit refund: The deposit, minus booking fees imposed by the online ticket vendor, is refunded if booking is cancelled within 72 hours. After 72 hours of booking the deposit is forfeited.
Balance due: April 1, 2015. Balance of all fees is due on or before April 1, 2015. If payments are not received by that date, your reservation will be cancelled. If final payment(s) have been made, and the booking is cancelled before April 1, 2015, the final payment(s) will be refunded. Cancellations after April 1, 2015 are non-refundable.
ESTIMATING YOUR COSTS NOT included in the Package: The present exchange rate is approximately $1.00 = €0.86 (€ is the symbol for Euro) and €1.00=$1.15. The price of a Viennese deli or bakery sandwich, or a combo meal in fast food restaurant (Big Mac Meal or similar) in Vienna is about $7 (€6). A basic sit-down lunch meal (Mittagsmenü) without drink (the European practice) starts at about $9 (€8). A good sit-down dinner without drink begins at about $20 (€17). Of course, currency rates fluctuate daily, and by July the exchange rate may be different.The in-room and common kitchen facilities at the Haus allow for preparing your own meals and packing lunches, if desired.
Round-trip airport transportation by airport bus is about $25 per person, plus short taxi or U-Bahn rides to and from the station.
After you book, we will send you a detailed itinerary and additional information periodically to help you plan for the trip.
WAITING LIST:
We are anticipating numerous responses from OC's alumni for this exciting experience. Remember, Das Millicanhaus has only 16 rooms available for this event! As such, we are happy to keep a waiting list if the VIENNA ALUMNI ADVENTURE sells out. In this case, please email alumni@oc.edu with "Vienna Waiting List" in the subject line,and specify either a specific room type, or first room that becomes available .
UNDERSOLD HAUS:
The cost to participants of the VIENNA ALUMNI ADVENTURE package is based on all rooms booked and sold at a minimum of two persons per room. In the event that too few rooms are sold to cover OC's costs, some elements of the trip (such as escorted tours) may need to be withdrawn.
In that case, participants may choose from these options:
- Full refund of all payments.
- Keeping your room reservation at the reduced rate of $10 per person per day for the dates of the same seven nights, with a full refund of all other payments.

After you have registered and made your deposit you will receive a confirmation email and "print at home" receipt. Later, we will email instructions on the procedure for making your final payment.
ROOM CAPACITY
The varied room options have a similar appearance in the registration choices that follow. Before you make your deposit, review the room descriptions above and double check the total capacity of beds available in your room type to avoid selecting more guests from the drop down menu than your room can accommodate. The minimum price for each room is based upon double occupancy.
