KPLU presents Cliff's Notes: The Future of Northwest Weather
Will Northwest weather become more extreme with global warming? How do CO2 and other greenhouse gases influence the climate? Cliff Mass, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington--and KPLU's weekly weather commentator--will talk about the nature of climate change and how humans are contributing to it. He'll discuss the technology of predicting the future, particularly over the region, pointing out strengths and weaknesses of the current science. Cliff will also talk about the miscommunication on both sides of the issue and why that is counterproductive. He'll wrap up by talking about our best estimates of what will happen in the region and how the Northwest can prepare for climate change. The event will be hosted by KPLU Environment Reporter Bellamy Pailthorp, who'll moderate a Q&A with the audience following Cliff's presentation. This event is a benefit for KPLU.
