Meet Francois Marry, a multi-talented songwriter, musician, animator and artist, hailing from Saintes, a small town on the west coast of France, now signed to Fence Records.
At the age of 19, Francois travelled over to the UK, and quickly became involved in the Bristol scene, joining the line-ups of Movietone (Domino) and Crescent (FatCat). After a few months he started playing a number of his own shows, garnering notable support slots (including Juana Molina, Gravenhurst, Patrick Wolf, Panda Bear, Electrelane) and assembling an ever-changing band of players called The Atlas Mountains whose cast has included Rachael Dadd (Angel's Egg), and fellow Fence Records artist Rozi Plain.
Through Rozi, Francois was introduced to Fence Records, and has since performed at a number of Fence Collective events, including the label's Home game festival, in April 2009.
Over the past few years, Francois has performed around the globe with his own band, as well as being a touring member of Scottish indie-pop starlets Camera Obscura (4AD), on trumpet and percussion.
ROZI PLAIN (Fence)

Rozi Plain was born Rosalind Leyden, in the leafy-greens of Winchester, 24 years ago. Since moving to Bristol she's been working on the ferries that bob in and out of the city, along the Avon, whilst creating her own beautifully intimate music that captures life slowly floating by. With her older brother Sam (aka Romanhead), and her pal Rachael Dadd, she is a founding member of the Cleaner Records collective, a loose assortment of singer-songwriters from the Bristol area.
Through her output on Cleaner Records, and at various live shows, Rozi's songs reached the ears of Fife Fence Records label bosses Kenny Anderson and Johnny Lynch (aka King Creosote and The Pictish Trail). She's subsequently played at many Fence Records events (including their annual Homegame Festival, in Anstruther), and has contributed to numerous Fence Collective compilations.
