RenMen Branches
Renaissance Men is Boston's acclaimed male vocal chamber ensemble; delivering impassioned interpretation of men's modal music spanning the centuries.
In our third concert series of the 2014-2015 season, April 10th at St. Paul's Brookline and April 11th at Old South Church's Gordon Chapel in the Back Bay, we will take you on a journey from the church to the tavern - and everywhere in between. After a deeper understanding of where we came from locally, these concerts will survey some of the men's music heritages from across the globe. With a particular focus on the German Männerchor tradition, you may want to pay attention to our program booklet for translations, or bring a German friend! We will perform haunting and impactful works of Grieg, Rachmaninoff, Carillo, Reinberger, Strauss, Schubert, and Reger. To incorporate the British singing society tradition, we will also be presenting the Six Choral Folk Songs by Gustav Holst, of which the transcendent "I Love My Love" is included. Our program will conclude with a set of drinking songs from times past and present.
Join us for a concert or two you will not soon forget!
