Holcombe Waller and Ben Landsverk in Concert at The Old Church, w/ special guest Dominique Garcia.
15 years ago, Ben and Holcombe first collaborated on vocal arrangements for a college singing group. Today their work spans multiple albums and touring live performance works, including Holcombe's critically acclaimed 2005 album "Troubled Times," his PICA-commissioned performance "Into the Dark Unknown: The Hope Chest" (2009) and his upcoming album "Into the Dark Unknown" (Winter 2011). They've toured the United States and Europe both as a duo and with Holcombe's ensemble, The Healers. In the gorgeous natural acoustics of The Old Church, Holcombe and Ben will perform an intimate concert of original and cover songs on piano, guitar and organ in a style pointing to some of their favorite influences: Simon & Garfunkle, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Patty Griffin, to name a few.
Special guest Dominique Garcia will open the show. This wonderful Portland-based singer-songwriter writes songs embued with the qualities of the pink and orange sky and fields of wildflowers of her home state of Texas. Holcombe first saw Dominique perform at the Water in the Dessert Festival in 2008, where her music and vocals entranced him. He is excited to finally share the stage with Dominique.
