Direct from her off-Broadway hit, Squeeze Box, produced by Mel Brooks and the late Anne Bancroft, she is currently writing the screenplay for a major motion picture. Ann's solo shows have garnered many awards including the prestigious LA Weekly and Los Angeles Times Ovation for "Best Solo Show" and "Best Female Comic." Excerpts from her shows have aired on NPR's All Things Considered, Public Radio Weekend, PBS, and the BBC. As a filmmaker and vlogger, she has won numerous awards and her most recent short film, Disaster Relief was selected for the prestigious Venice Film Festival.
If the story is in you, it has got to come out.William Faulkner Everything in your life, from the mundane to the extraordinary, is a story waiting to be told. In this workshop, you will discover your own unique and powerful story. Michel de Montaigne, the great personal essayist said " Every man has within himself the entire human condition" and the intention of this workshop is for you delve deep into your own personal narrative. Writing from your deepest source, you will gain insight and self-understanding that can bring peace and healing. We will then make our words leap from the page to the stage, sharing them orally to uncover the power of storytelling to transform your life and your listeners. Through improvisation, writing exercises, and group discussion, you will find your authentic voice, along with a way to express it. Ann Randolph creates a supportive, fun, and dynamic space to create and play. In addition to creating stories for a live performance, you will also learn the myriad options for speaking your truth via the Internet. Ann will spend several sessions on guerrilla filmmaking, vlogging, and blogging as another option for sharing your stories. The month will culminate in a theatrical presentation of your work for the Esalen community as well as the opportunity to post your work to youtube for the world wide web. We can change the world with our WORDS!!!!
