Let My Legacy Speak for Me-Canceled. Will Reschedule for Spring.
Award-winning and Grammy-nominated gospel recording artist Luther Barnes began performing professionally when he was only nine years old. During his long career he has been part of a number of groups, released a long list of albums, had his songs featured in films, and even appeared in off-Broadway plays. He has many talents which include singer, songwriter, & pianist.

Mr. Barnes was raised in North Carolina as part of a large extended family comprised of many musicians and vocalists. One of the loves these family members shared was "the gospel," both in word and song. At the young age of nine, Barnes became part of a group called The Barnes Juniors which was formed by his father; singer, songwriter, and recording artist Bishop Faircloth "F. C." Barnes, composer of the well known Rough Side of the Mountain which he also performed with Reverend Janice Brown. Other groups (Luther) Barnes has taken part in, and currently leads,  include the Sunset Jubilaires, an active family-based group who has been performing for more than 35 years, and the Red Budd Gospel Choir.

Barnes earned his BA degree in Music Education from St. Augustine College, Raleigh, NC. He used this training to teach music at his former junior high and high schools as well as private piano and vocal lessons. His recording career began in 1987 with the completion of the album See what the Lord Has Done, released under the Atlanta Records label. As an executive producer of Gospel music, he has released more than 28 CDs and has performed with other gospel recording artists to include, but certainly not limited to, Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Norwood, and Kirk Franklin. In 2005 he recorded with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir on their release I'm Amazed Live. He has also performed the national anthem for our local Carolina Mudcats baseball game. Currently, Barnes is recording under the Malaco label.

Barnes has served as minister of music at his church as well as director of the On the Rise Youth Choir. He has received numerous major awards from the gospel music industry including the prestigious Dove Award and BET's Vision Award, just to name two. Barnes is also an inductee of the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He traces his musical knowledge to the teaching of his father, Bishop F. C. Barnes.

Luther Barnes is the President of Luther Barnes Ministries and has hosted The Annual North Carolina Fall Gospel Classic since 1996 at Red Budd Holy Church, Rocky Mount, NC. Please join us February 21 from 5-7PM for an evening of Gospel Music with Luther. Cost of Admissions is $11.
