Carol's 2010 Holiday Party
Join 350 of my "close personal friends" at this annual charity holiday party at my home.
This year's beneficiary is Bering Omega Community Services, which provides compassionate health care and social services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Tickets are $30, which includes open bar and a bountiful selection of hot and cold appetizers. Here's this year's menu:
* Smoked Pork Tenderloin with Texas Cranberry Chutney
* Mushrooms with Spicy Sausage or Spinach Soufflé
* Brie with Sun-Dried Tomato Topping
* Cheezy Poofs with Spicy Mustard
* Artichoke and White Bean Crostini
* Avocado Feta Salsa
* Cucumber Mango Salsa
* Devilish Eggs
* General Tso's Chicken
* Homemade Tortilla Roll-ups with three different fillings
* Drunken Tomatoes
* Asparagus with Wasabi Dip
* Artichoke Jalapeno Dip
* Assorted Desserts
It may seem weird to attend a party at the home of someone you don't know, but I sincerely DO hope all of you will attend.
The party is an opportunity to meet new friends, and reconnect with old ones. To make it easier to meet people, each guest selects a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. An index chart explains what each color means:
* You're too late. I'm already taken.
* Well, I came with someone but I'd consider a better offer.
* I'm single but selective - at least until midnight
* I've lowered my standards. If you're breathing, you'll do.
* I am NOT making a statement. I am just accessorizing.
And this year, we're also adding Conversation Cards, an optional tool for creating stimulating conversations. Whether you discuss your favorite childhood snacks or whether you'd rather be lucky or good, the cards will provide over 200 interesting topics.
The party is held at my home: 3503 Cherry Forest Drive, Houston 77088. If you need help with directions, feel free to call me at 281-772-4219 - but please do so BEFORE the party!
As most of you know, there are several pre-party volunteer opportunities that have proven to be a lot of fun over the years, so mark your calendars for those as well:
* The decorating event will be Saturday, November 20th, 11 am
* The Slice and Dice food prep party will be Friday, Dec. 3rd from 6 to 10 pm
If you are interested in participating in either or both of the volunteering opportunities, please shoot me an email at cwyatthouston@yahoo.com
This year's party sponsors are Budweiser, Pioneer Wine Company, Red Bull, Skyy Vodka, Malibu Rums and Jagermeister. Please support them, just as they support my party and the GLBT community in general!
Notes:
Dress: There is no dress code, but most of my guests choose to dress up a bit - with nice jeans/slacks and perhaps a festive sweater or jacket. Also, if it is cold the night of the party, please dress warmly, since this is an inside/outside party. Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and festive!
