Centennial Weekend Lecture - David Marshall
Led by historians, architects, cultural landscape professionals and scholars, the opening centennial lecture series addresses the historic buildings and landscape legacies of the Panama California Exposition.
Lectures are open seating; please note, however, that tours are limited in number of attendees to assure quality. So sign up fast!
David Marshall, AIA A Postcard Tour of Balboa Park's 1915 Exposition Preservation architect and author David Marshall will present a tour of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition incorporating historic postcards from his private collection. David will also show highlights from SOHO's Souvenirs & Keepsakes exhibition which features memorabilia from both the 1915 and 1935 expositions.
Bio Architect David Marshall is President of the highly respected preservation firm of Heritage Architecture & Planning. David's firm specializes in the restoration and adaptive reuse of historic structures. He has worked on many significant buildings, including the House of Hospitality in Balboa Park and the Western Metal Supply Company building at PETCO Park. David graduated from Cal Poly Pomona and joined Heritage in 1990. David is past President of the Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO), was on the City of San Diego Historical Resources Board from 2002 to 2008 and is currently a Trustee for the California Preservation Foundation. David is an avid collector of historic San Diego postcards and ephemera, especially items related to Balboa Park. In 2007 he authored the postcard history book San Diego's Balboa Park for Arcadia Publishing. David has lived in San Diego County since 1967 and currently resides in La Mesa with his wife and son.
