WE ALL WE GOT returns to Reno on Saturday July 31st with a diverse and talented lineup. Headlined by underground hip hop legend 2Mex and hosted by Revolutionary Poet Sellassie, WE ALL WE GOT is designed to expose interesting and determined emerging artists, cultivate relationships, and build community among independents. We support authentic hip hop and are creating a movement where upcoming artists can gain exposure and experience. WE ALL WE GOT is a place to discover some new music you just might like and mightn't hear elsewhere.
Whether you're familiar with his catalog or not, it's safe to say that 2Mex (aka SunGodSuns) is an underground legend. His long list of contributions and collaborative work is staggering. 2Mex pledges allegiance to Visionaries, Of Mexican Descent, Sungodsun, Afterlife, Project Blowed, the Shapeshifters, Look Daggers, The Returners, and now (with his first east coast alliance) he has signed with Strange Famous Records. This 'golden boy of hip-hop' is possibly the most prolific underground rapper ever, with at least 35 CD releases and too many guest appearances to count. Through hard work and determination, while touring the globe many times over, he has built a cult-like following that tries to keep up with his massive output. Therein lies an anxiety problem and it's one we're determined to remedy.
WE ALL WE GOT host Sellassie is shining as a leading progressive voice in S.F. Bay Hip Hop. With an acclaimed debut release, I'm Tryin' to Make a Livin' Not a Killin', and a new follow-up album, Sins of Your Forefathers, he is carving his niche in Hip Hop. Although inspired and motivated from reading hundreds of books, Sellassie is self-taught and came up on the streets. Sellassie's lyric is rooted in a deep comprehension of the world around him. He writes on domestic and world politics, international relations and community needs, corporate thuggery and the obstacles independent artists face. He has seen first hand the problems that his music addresses. He has seen black on black crime, he has lost many close friends to homicide, he has seen the drugs and money destroy his community, he has witnessed the decay of Independent Bay Hip Hop.
In addition to the new record, Sellassie is celebrating the 1 year anniversary of WE ALL WE GOT, is working with many social, political and youth based initiatives, and is a contributor to various special projects including Emcees for Peace's The Matter That Matters CD and the West Coast Hip Hop Awards 2010.
Proudly Sponsored by Reno Metromix, Events Only and the Hip Hop Congress.
