Tell Me A Story Nostalgia in the Digital Age
by Heather Hartley & Casey Murtaugh
Tell Me a Story...Nostalgia and the Digital Age, is a new interdisciplinary work co-directed by Heather Hartley and Casey Murtaugh (and an all female ensemble), featuring Hartley, Murtaugh, Amy Hamlyn. Inspired by grandmothers, ancestors, our shifting definition of "home" and the breathtaking speed with which we now remember, save, and forget, the piece merges visual art installation, text and movement-based performance to explore nesting and bird imagery as metaphors for family and safety.
The creation of the text for this work is ongoing, and is in part a compilation of contributions and recollections made by the public. The artists invite visitors to contribute their own stories, based on the prompt, "Tell us a story about your grandmother; about things forgotten, things found in attics, memories that have been tucked away."
