We hope you will join us this year for our annual Spring Conference. Now more than ever, the teaching of writing and literacy is part of our collective mission as educators, from the primary grades through college. The Rhode Island Writing Project Spring Conference is a great way to reinvigorate and renew your pedagogy and practice as teachers of writing!
We are excited to announce our 2015 keynote speaker, Barry Lane, an internationally known author and speaker, who travels the world sharing his unique style of motivating students to become better writers.
Barry Lane is a writer who teaches writing and the founder of Discover Writing Company, which for the last 20 year has provided professional development in writing and reading for teachers K-12 and beyond. His popular books help aspiring writers of all ages hone their craft and find their unique voices. Barry has presented and spoken in all 50 states and in many countries abroad. His presentations are hilarious but underneath the humor there is always the same strong message: Writers write for the same reason readers read--to find out what's going to happen.
The RIWP Annual Spring Conference is a professional development opportunity for K-16 teachers looking for innovative ways to inspire and engage students with writing and literacy. Those who attend will have the opportunity to hear from and meet with a nationally regarded leader in teaching, to participate in workshops, and to network with other educators.
