RECEPTION
Wednesday
July 21st 6pm - 9pm The Soho Gallery for Digital Art's is offering a video journey through ninety lavishly illustrated maps of imaginary worlds, displayed in pristine quality and seamless motion on its state of the art digital display screens. From the ruined Atlantean continent city to ships' graveyards to a far-future settlement on the planet Venus, these maps depict planets and places torn from the world of imagination. Included in the exhibit are maps based on New York Times bestselling works such as David Eddings' Belgariad series and George RR Martin's Westeros novels. Forty cartographers from around the globe - whose work has appeared in books, magazines, computer-graphics and fantasy games - combine craft and aesthetic to give us glimpses of worlds ripe for adventure. To see low-resolution samples visit http://fantasticmaps.wordpress.com/terra-incognita Limited edition prints will be available during the run of the show.
