Little Red RIding Hood (Magnuson Park Theatre)
Little Red Riding Hood sets off to Grandmutter's house with a basket full of goodies and stumbles into an armful of adventure. Rudy an impish squirrel befriends Red and warns her of the dangerous wolf. The arrogant Wolf assumes a variety of disguises in his attempt to gobble-up Little Red Riding Hood. Fritz the telegram singing bird and Greta, a rabbit with a carriage full of baby bunnies, round out the zany characters Little Red Riding Hood meets on her adventure. This action filled is set in Bavaria and includes an interactive song in which children are invited to sing and operate puppets.
Songwriter Sue Ennis has penned the hilarious Wolf Aria, one of the most popular songs she has ever written for Thistle Theatre. A talented ensemble of puppeteers performs all character voices and songs live.
Thistle Theatre is the only performing arts organization in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in tabletop Bunraku-style of puppetry. Bunraku is an ancient Japanese style of puppetry. The puppeteers dress in black to suggest invisibility and operate the puppets behind. Funded in part with Funds from 4Culture/King County Lodging Tax Fund.
