Introduction to Etching
This workshop will introduce class participants to the basic techniques of the etching (intaglio) process. Participants will learn to properly execute, develop and print their individual etching plates. The class will consider the relationship between a prints form and its content. We will work on developing an individual archive of imagery from which class participants projects will be created. Exploration of drypoint, hardground and softground as well as conceptual aspects of printmaking in general and etching in particular will also be emphasized. This class is for adults and meets two weekends in a row. There are four sessions, March 14, 15, 21, 22, from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.
