What: Wise Fool New Mexico's 2015 BUST Circus SHOWCASE 3 performances as the finale of the BUST Women's Circus Intensive. Each year in this amazing 6 week circus camp, women of all ages, come together to challenge themselves, and inspire each other to often unheard of new heights of physical and emotional expression through the arts. The women will be creating their own acts with the help of teachers and coaches to illustrate these concepts from their own voice. We incorporate, Acrobatics, Trapeze, Aerial Fabric, Stilts, Clown, and Physical Theater, in this beautiful exploration into the world of strength and vulnerability, expression and intention. It will be a show not to be missed. Wise Fool's BUST Circus Intensive Workshops provides a safe space for women of all shapes, sizes, ages (15- 90+), gender presentations, backgrounds, and ability levels to come together and explore their physical and inner strength while building trust and community. Bust is an annual program since 2002. Who: The incredibly talented and strong women and female genderqueer participants of the 13th annual Wise Fool New Mexico's BUST Circus Camps which drew 23 participants for all over the US and internationally. The 2015 BUST program director is Deirdre Morris and the show director is Jasmine Quinsier.
"I grew up with a lot of fear, anxiety, and timidity and [BUST] was a place where I was able to release my fear and show up fully, loudly, and authentically as I am." - BUST 2010 Student
"Coming to the BUST performance, and seeing average people do amazing things, hooked me on Wise Fool. What a great marriage of hands-on experience, opportunity to feel good about yourself, and space to create change."
"Wise Fool, with programs like BUST, seeks to give people the opportunity to experience beloved community a safe space for risk-taking, for reflection, for play, for struggle, for imaginative leaps, for standing in our power, for standing in our vulnerability." Veena Vasista, seeandconnect
"When you perform, you have to find a solidity at your center. That creates a strength that persists beyond the performance, and you can draw on it to meet other challenges in your life."
Camp participants work together to choreograph acts, create costumes, and rehearse for countless hours to make the show come to life. The sense of pride, unity, and loving support among the women that emerge out of the BUST experience is overwhelmingly positive, and simply put, beautiful! This years show is co-produced by Wise Fool New Mexico (a New Mexico 501c3 non-profit organization)
