J'ai Été au Bal & Marc and Ann
J'ai été au bal USA, 1989, 84 minutes
A film by Les Blank, Chris Strachwitz and Maureen Gosling
Featuring many of the Cajun and Zydeco greats, including Michael Doucet and Beausoleil, Clifton Chenier, Marc and Ann Savoy, D.L. Menard, and many others, this exhuberant tribute to the toe-tapping, foot-stomping music of French Southwest Louisiana is equally satisfying for lovers of roots and traditional music, as well as for anyone curious about American culture. You're guaranteed to leave the theatre in a better mood.
Preceded by Marc & Ann
This short film delves directly into the heart of Cajun country to portray a couple dedicated to the preservation of Louisiana French culture. Marc is an irreverent storyteller and accordion maker; his wife Ann is musician, mother of four and author of the book Cajun Music: Reflection of a People. Currently touring and recording as The Savoy Family Band with two of their sons who were very young children at the time of this film, the Savoy family of today is featured in This Ain't No Mouse Music.
