COLLABORATION:An evening of new plays written by Newburyport's finest Weekend Writers.
Weekend Writer's Workshop: An evening of new plays written by Newburyport's finest Weekend Writers. An exciting collection of drama and comedy written, performed, and directed by a very talented group', says Marc Clopton, Executive Director of TASN, 'providing an excellent night of theater, filled with surprises, including one play they all wrote together!" All proceeds will benefit The Actors Studio of Newburyport
Every third weekend a group of experienced playwrights and actors gather at The Actors Studio to collaborate and workshop each other's new work. The playwrights give their pages to the actors in advance, the actors bring the words to life, suggestions are made, insight is provided, and before long a new play is born. "We have some of the area's best writers and actors banding together to create our own form of magic", says actor and playwright Charlie Bradley. "The help I've received has been fantastic". "We're here to discover", says playwright Jack Rushton, "All of us are open to the endless possibilities that each new piece of writing presents. We're re partners in each other's work and our intention is to use our collective talents so each piece realizes its fullest potential". Playwrights from this workshop have been produced at venues and festivals around the country, and many of our actors perform our plays at The New Works Festival in Newburyport, The Boston Theater Marathon, and The Boston Playwright's Theater, to name a few. "We've become a troupe", says actor, director, and playwright Sherry Bonder, "From a group of friends and colleagues we've assembled this amazing universe of talent all dedicated to the work itself and to each other"' *** Please Note..
