Taste the World
Friday, May 13, 5 to 8 p.m.
Take a walk downtown...around the world! Join us for the fifth Taste the World walking and sampling tour, sponsored by Kids and Cultures.
At each of seven cultural restaurants and bakeries in Lancaster, Pa., attendees can taste a sample of their specialties. Where else can you try authentic Indian chicken tikka and vegetable pakooras, Italian cream puffs, Jamaican paddies with coconut rice and beans, a French-inspired crepe, a Moscow panini, Turkish coffee and a dessert, Asian crab rangoon, Mexican tamales all at one meal?
The participating eateries are Caribbean Heat, Masala Grill Authentic Indian Cuisine, La Dolce Vita Italian Courthouse Bakery, Rachel's Cafe & Creperie, Sakura Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar, Cocina Mexicana, and Oriana Cafe. Find their locations and hours, and meet their owners/managers/chefs, by visiting www.tastetheworldlancaster.com. Red Rose Intercultural and Educational Foundation (www.redrosefoundation.org) will also be on hand to share Turkish coffee and desserts.
How does it work? Tickets are required and can be purchased here. On the evening of the event, you will arrive at Red Rose SegWay, 305 North Queen Street, between 4:45 and 6:30 p.m., to pick up your ticket and a map. From there, you can plan the order of your stops, allowing a minimum of 90 minutes to visit all the locations. At each restaurant, a greeter will greet you, stamp your ticket, and give any specific instructions. We encourage you to take a look around, peek at the menu, and soak in the sights and aromas before heading off to the next destination.
This is not a "sit-down" progressive meal. Because of limited seating and time, you may eat while standing inside or outside the restaurants, or while walking to your next destination. Feel free to buy drinks and other menu items (either take-out or sit-down, as space and time allow).
Children three years of age and younger may share their family's food and do not need a ticket. The event will be held rain or shine. Please contact us with any questions.
This is the only Taste the World event planned for 2011.
*Please note that tickets must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. Any tickets that have not been picked up by 6:30 p.m. will be available for purchase on a first come, first served basis.
Or, to avoid the service fee, mail a check postmarked by May 6 (April 15 for the early rate) to: Kids and Cultures 823 North Duke Street Lancaster, PA 17602-2021
Indicate the number of adult and children's tickets, and include your phone number and e-mail address so that we can confirm your order.
