Producers on Producing
Spend an entertaining and educational evening with EMMY Award-winning producers Craig Harris and Kurt T. Jones and participate in viewing and discussing two of their outstanding films.
The evening's films include:
DEFENDING THE HOMELAND: NATIVE AMERICANS IN THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES This EMMY Award-winning documentary short brings to life stories of the Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians and their illustrious history of military service. This film showcases their emotional battles both overseas as warriors and here at home as veterans.
WATER FLOWING TOGETHER This feature documentary is an intimate portrait of an important American artist, New York City Ballet's Jock Soto, one of the most influential modern ballet dancers. As an young gay man, Jock became a force of the ballet company for more than two decades. Filmmaker Gwendolen Cates follows Soto as he prepares for his farewell performance by traveling to his Navajo reservation and Puerto Rico to reconnect with his heritage. WATER FLOWING TOGETHER won the Los Angeles OUTFEST Audience Award for Best Feature and Best Documentary Feature at the Sedona International Film Festival and the Imaginative Film Festival; among many other awards and Honors.
About The Producers:
CRAIG HARRIS Craig Harris is a Three-time EMMY Award-winning and seven-time EMMY nominated Producer, director and writer. He began his career in feature film and television casting and production; on projects such as AMERICAN BEAUTY, ALMOST FAMOUS and ROCKY & BULLWINKLE. He has worked for multiple networks, including NBC, A&E, ABC Family, AMC, Lifetime, Esquire and TruTV. He also spent six seasons in production with Independent Television Service (ITVS) for the PBS documentary series Independent Lens. His production team was recognized with Peabody Awards, Academy Award nominations, DuPont-Columbia Awards and Sundance Film Festival Awards. Craig is the Co-Founder of The Human Race Project (HRP). KURT T. JONES Kurt most recently directed, produced and co-wrote the short thriller JUST ME AND ALL OF YOU. The film stars Naomi Grossman Of AMERICAN HORROR STORY and debuted at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. He began his career working in film production in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. Kurt is an in-demand director/editor and is looking to direct his first feature film later this year.
