STAR WRECK!
If you are a fan of Star Trek or Babylon 5, you may have already heard of Star Wreck. If not, now is the time to get acquainted with it. Star Wreck is a splendid parody of those two popular television franchises.
The film concerns the imperialist ambitions of Captain James B. Pirk and begins with Pirk and some of his crew stranded on 21st Century Earth. Dissatisfied with his attempts to go native, the arrogant and somewhat inept Pirk declares himself Emperor and sets out to 'liberate' Earth with the aid of the Russians and a starship that resembles the U.S.S. Enterprise. With Earth under his control, Pirk goes in search of other planets to conquer. After travelling through a "maggot hole" with the P-fleet, he encounters the Babel 13 space station. Space battles and fist fights follow as the commander of Babel 13 attempts to thwart Pirk's ambition to take over the station.
Star Wreck does an excellent job of blending humour and action. For anyone that doesnt take their Star Trek or Babylon 5 too seriously, or already considers themselves a Wreckkie, Star Wreck is a must-see. Review by Michael Simpson| HNR Special Contributor
