SHOWGIRLS: The 15th Anniversary Celebration - A Night of 1,000 Showgirls!
Peaches Christ Productions wants you to dust off your glittery g-strings for a special one night, interactive presentation of a "NIGHT OF 1,000 SHOWGIRLS" on AUGUST 7, 2010 at the majestic CASTRO THEATRE in San Francisco with your host, Peaches Christ. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the seminal, "camp" classic, Peaches and company will kick off the night with the "Volcanic Goddess" pre-show and a " Nomi-Malone Look-A-Like Contest," cheeseburgers and fries not required. This one-of-a-kind San Francisco experience begins at 8:00 p.m., tickets are $18 (or a reduced $15 for members of the PC Fan Club, register at PeachesChrist.com) and grab them in advance, as this is one of the most insanely popular shows.
To make this Peaches Christ extravaganza especially "trash-tastic," audiences are invited to embrace their desire for sequins, glitter and Doggy Chow by dressing up and competing to be the next "Goddess" in the "Nomi-Malone Look-A-Like Contest," with prizes supplied by Peaches Christ Productions and the evening's co-sponsors, Good Vibrations and Amoeba Music. Do you feel more like Nomi's arch-nemesis Cristal Connors or want to sport a pre-Justin Beiber hairstyle like Cristal's and Nomi's pimp, uh, boyfriend Zack Carey? Peaches welcomes all to the show; the crazier creative you are, the more the night will sparkle like a 1,000 white diamonds and "Ver-sayce" dresses.
And for those who can't fathom the idea of eating brown rice and vegetables, grab that LARGE, buttery popcorn because with every salty purchase, "snack" obsessed audience members will receive a personalized lap dance by Peaches' legion of live "dude-girls," to get you mood and make you feel like you're back at the Cheetah strip lounge. As Peaches would say, "the show is about to begin", with her signature "FREE LAP-DANCES W/ EVERY LARGE POPCORN."
SHOWGIRLS (1995, Paul Verhoven) is a MGM release that tells the classic story of a young woman, Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkely), who dreams of being a dancer under the bright lights of the Las Vegas skyline. Catching the glittery eye of Stardust Casino's showgirl, superstar Cristal Conners (Gina Gershon), Nomi sees an opportunity for her desire to become real. But there is only room for only one star on the marquee, so let battle of the showgirls begin!
