PAELLA IN THE PARK
LIMITED TICKETS FOR FIRST ANNUAL PAELLA IN THE PARK FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 6 IN DOWNTOWN TRAVERSE CITY WITH HEADLINING MUSIC BY BLUES TRAVELER
The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and Porterhouse Productions are teaming up to offer a first-time summer culinary event in the heart of downtown Traverse City.
Paella in the Park will take place Friday, August 6 from 5-10 p.m. on the former Clinch Park Zoo grounds in Traverse City. The festive event will feature the legendary live band Blues Traveler (at 8PM) who has six platinum records with over 10 million sold and the longest running radio single in Billboard history "Run-Around." The evening festival will pair the seven wineries of Old Mission Peninsula with seven regional chefs who will prepare Spanish paellas over open fire on-site. Each winery will host a station featuring three 36" pans in which chefs will cook paella using featured wines from that vintner and fresh local and global ingredients.
Paella, a rice-based dish that boasts hundreds of variations using different ingredients, is one of Spain's most popular food entrees. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to converse with local chefs about the art of making paella, as well as enjoy food and wine samples at each station. Sam Porter, creator/producer of the event says "Paella is exciting to cook and the energy of fire, food, dancing, fun music and working chefs will keep the experience for attending wine- and food-lovers in great spirits."
The festival, which will be held in conjunction with Friday Night Live and Traverse City's Annual Downtown Street Sale, will also feature local and national live music, family-friendly activities and culinary educational opportunities. Local craft food vendors will be featured prominently throughout the event grounds. In addition, the sunset and Lake Michigan backdrop will make it a beautiful evening!
Tickets to the first annual Paella in the Park are $36 and include (5) 2 oz. wine pours, 3 helpings of paella, live music and entertainment and access to all festival activities. Proceeds will benefit local non-profits Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and Bay Front Parks.
The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula feature seven distinct wineries located on the globe's 45th parallel - the ideal climate for growing varietal wine grapes. They include 2Lads Winery, Black Star Farms, Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery, Chateau Chantal, Chateau Grand Traverse and Peninsula Cellars. ALL TICKET PURCHASES ARE FINAL - NO REFUNDS.
**Please Note: While Paella in the Park is an all-ages event, it is designed for mature audiences. The focus of the evening is on wine, complex foods and live music from an adult rock band. Accordingly, tickets are $36 per attendee, regardless of age.
