SPECIAL FESTIVAL OFFER!
Purchasing this discounted ticket will buy you a seat all night, letting you see a two-performer show at 7 pm and a different two-performer show at 9 pm. A great way to sample the wares of March Is Cabaret Month! Here's the lineup for Saturday, March 14.
MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents: Arwen Dewey in "A DATE WITH THE MOON: A TOAST TO CHARLES TRENET"
A soiree of smooth 30s, 40s and 50s-era music by the great French singer/composer Charles Trenet ("Beyond the Sea", "I Wish You Love"), celebrating the revelry and joy of "Le fou chantant." A dynamic and enthusiastic participant in Seattle's fringe and traditional musical theater scenes, Arwen has also performed throughout France, Belgium and the USA in cabaret, opera, jazz sextets, cathedral choirs, storytelling slams, early music recitals, and Victorian caroling quartets. Favorite local roles include Cathy in The Last Five Years (Act1), Mabel in Pirates of Penzance (STAGEright), and Meg in Brigadoon (SFFT). Music director and accompanist: Victor Janusz. www.arwendewey.com
MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents: Marcus Wolland in "BOURBON & BURT: A BACHARACH COLLECTION"
The cocktail culture of 1960s America was the backdrop for one of music's most prolific composers, Burt Bacharach. With lyricist Hal David and vocalists like Dionne Warwick, Jack Jones and BJ Thomas, not to mention a resurgence in popularity in the 1990s, Bacharach left an indelible mark on the pop music landscape. A cabaret and musical theatre entertainer for several years here in the Pacific Northwest, Marcus Wolland has appeared at Thumper's Oak Room, Crepe de Paris, Salty's on Alki, Tacoma's Theater On The Square and Egan's. Marcus is originally from southern Nevada, which might explain his love for 1960s Vegas kitsch! Music director/accompanist: Hans Brehmer.
MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents: Angie Louise in "SLIPWRECKED"
Singer-songwriter Angie Louise mixes you a voodoo potion of delicious delusions and mornings after, layered with smoky vocals and served up with plenty of fizz and bite. Angie is best known for her band The Love Markets (frontwoman, songwriter); her principal roles as an AEA actress (5th Avenue Theatre, regional tours, SCT, Village); and her work in several award-winning feature films as a screenwriter, actress and composer. In 2013, Angie and the Love Markets released their record WORLD OF YOUR DREAMS ("Irresistible... Intoxicating... A deliciously dark carnival" - Seattle Magazine). "Louise is a singer and songwriter with fearsome chops." - City Arts www.angielouise.com; www.the-love-markets.com
MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents: Sweet Spot Combo in "MUSIC FOR MODERNES"
The Sweet Spot Combo brings a swing jazz sound, with vocals from gypsy jazz to the Mills Brothers and beyond. Sweet Spot features founder Ben Lang on guitar, violin and vocals, with a passion for The Great American Songbook; David Salonen on upright bass and vocals, a multi-instrumentalist and lover of music; and on drums and vocals, Matthew Stull, a founding member of Grammy-nominated vocal group The Bobs. www.sweetspotcombo.com
