Improv 102: Scene Work - Exploring The Most Important Thing
Our Mission is to create an environment where learning is encouraged through exploration and discovery. We aim to effectively teach the core techniques of improv in a supportive guided environment.
Improv 102: Scene Work - Exploring The Most Important Thing
Week 1: Truth From Life In this first week we will focus on the idea that everything your partner does is a gift for you to use on stage. Remove the barriers of worrying about "being funny" or "doing a good scene" and just focus on being honest and listening to your partner and you will succeed.
Week 2: Relationship, not plot The second week will focus on relationships and dealing with plot. The goal of this week is to show how something crazy can happen, but you can still have a solid relationship and the scene can continue.
Week 3: Grounded Listening This week we will focus on communication with our scene partner and the difference between hearing and listening. Students will explore how to listen to what their scene partner is saying, and how they're saying it. The goal is to highlight the focus of the scene through the relationship on stage.
Week 4: Sharing the Stage This week will focus on becoming one unit on stage. Exploring the specific roles that are played by individuals to ensure that scenes are executed smoothly with little to no resistance.
The class will be held on the 4 Saturday in February from 1-3pm. The cost for this class is $50.*
The class will be collectively taught by Collin Dahlgren and Robert Bacon.
The director of education at the Playground is Kevin Reader.
