Playing February 20 through March 14, 2015, WILD OATS Written by James McClure and directed by Tami Castillo Shelton will replace Bandido! as the 6th play of Brüka's 2014/15 season. You will not want to miss this rollicking comedy of the old west, adapted by James McLure from a restoration comedy of the same name by John O'Keeffe. Brüka Theatre turns the main stage into the "Last Chance" saloon for this hysterically funny play that combines the elements of comedy, melodrama and farce for some boot-skootin' fun. Filled with a collection of wild and wooly characters including outlaws, cavalry, an Irish Indian, ham actors, cowhands, farmers, saloon girls, villains and a dancing bear. A couple of traveling actor's descend upon a dusty desert town for a reunion of the Thunder clan bringing romance and mayhem to its inhabitants. Hold on to your seats you are in for a wild ride! "It's Americana, it's a goofy spoof of the old Wild West and it's delicious" - The Hollywood Reporter

ABOUT THE AUTHOR James McLure (1959 2011) was a playwright whose Southern roots were reflected in the loquacious, mostly comic, but not necessarily Southern characters he created in plays like "Lone Star,'' "Pvt. Wars'', "Laundry and Bourbon" and "Wild Oats.'' His work was also regularly presented in regional theaters around the country. Brüka Producing Artistic Director Mary Bennett worked with Mr. McLure at The B Street Theatre in 1995 and originated a role in his commissioned adaptation of "Journey To The Center Of The Earth".
