THE LARAMIE PROJECT
Through faithful reenactments of interviews with residents of Laramie, Wyoming, this docu-drama relates events surounding the 1998 death of Matthew Shepard, who, because he was gay, was the victim of a vicious assault. It's a breathtaking theatrical collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink -- and the compassionate heights we're capable of attaining. "The Laramie Project" was first produced in 2000 by the Tetonic Theater Project, whose members collaborated with Moises Kaufman in its authorship. Time Magazine called it "one of the ten best plays of the year;" and New York Magazine called it "stunning." The Stage Company's production, opening the community theater's 29th season, will be directed by Jennifer Caudell and Sarah Dubach.
