BASOTI presents a Masterclass with David Bender.
David Bender will be giving a masterclass to featured BASOTI students. Come see a behind-the-scenes view of how opera singers learn to express the music they learn.
During a 35 year operatic career, David Bender has sung over 45 leading tenor roles including those with the San Francisco Opera, and the Seattle Opera Company, as well as an international career with opera companies in Germany, Austria, and England and Switzerland.
In addition, he has had a distinguished career in Oratorio as tenor soloist with compositions written for him by Roy Harris, Richard Yardumian, Gian Carlo Menotti and Paul Allen Levi.
David is a graduate of Columbia University where he majored in American History and Music Performance which included conducting with the Barnard Gilbert and Sullivan Society and the American Premiere of Max Gobermans' realization of John Gay's Beggar's Opera.
He has received Teaching fellowships at the University of Colorado, and the University of California. He is former Professor of Voice at New York University and at the Conservatory of Music in Vienna.
Together, with his wife, Barbara Meister, has designed, planned, organized and given over forty master classes in singing, diction, presentational skills, and stagecraft throughout Europe, Canada and the United States.
