Contralto Victoria Hart is an active soloist on both operatic and concert stages. Equally at home in comedy as well as drama, Dr. Hart has appeared in leading roles with opera companies around the country. In recent seasons she has sung with the Knoxville Opera, Sacramento Opera, Fresno Opera, Greensboro Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Eugene Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Long Beach Opera and Rimrock Opera. She has performed a wide variety of roles, including Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera, La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, Emilia inOtello, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Katisha in The Mikado, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, to name but a few. Recently Dr. Hart was selected to create the role of Mrs. Wintry in the world premiere of Stephen Schwartz's new opera, Seance on a Wet Afternoon. In April 2006, Dr. Hart made her Carnegie Hall debut singing the contralto solo cantata Magnificat by Ralph Vaughan Williams with Mid America Productions. Dr. Hart has sung most of the standard concert repertoire for alto and has been a featured soloist with the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, the Angeles Chorale in Los Angeles, the New Amsterdam Singers in New York City, the Albuquerque Chamber Orchestra, Bakersfield Masterworks Chorale, Los Robles Master Chorale, Master Chorale of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Choral Society and Musica Antiqua of Santa Barbara. Dr. Hart has been heard as the alto soloist on the KDB Radio broadcasts of The Messiah. Dr. Hart earned her D.M.A. in Vocal Performance at UCSB, and teaches voice privately in Los Angeles. Dr. Hart was a featured presenter at the 2007 Classical Singer Convention in San Francisco, and is currently on the voice faculty of Cerritos College. Dr. Hart has been a member of the voice faculties of Westmont College in Montecito and the Artistic Repertory Theater School in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Hart has been an apprentice at the Sarasota Opera and attended the AIMS Summer Vocal Institute in Graz, Austria, and was a finalist in the Liederkranz Wagnerian Singer competition in 2004. She has coached with Valéry Ryvkin, Armen Guzelimian, Brent McMunn and the late Walter Taussig. In her acting studies she has worked with Chuck Hudson, Nina Foch and John Ingle. In addition to her work as a singer, Dr. Hart has written works for the stage which were performed at Lake George Opera, Music Academy of the West and SUNY Purchase. In 2000 Dr. Hart was featured in a nationally televised commercial for Merrill Lynch.
