As a collective, Fresh Blood Productions is rooted in the fascination with the way our interior landscape resonates through our bodies, encounters and spontaneous choices. With a penchant for assertive athleticism and mischievous whimsy, they create work that magnifies the electric, serpentine nature of our spines and our fiery dependence on each other. The company framework aims to develop dance both independently and collaboratively, serving as a home-base for production.
OosImaginary hails from the beautiful Archer Ballroom in Chicago, IL, which serves as a home, studio, & performance space for the members of the group. The group is made up of Lisa Frank, Teddy Rankin-Parker, and Sam Goodman. Coming from vastly different backgrounds, each member brings a unique blend of talents to create a powerful, heterogeneous, and always-unpredictable style. Their collaborative process places equal emphasis on rigorous physical training, hybridizing forms, & engaging with the present. Above all, OosImaginary is striving towards a holistic, or "total" improvisation, in which roles of musician, dancer, and actor may disintegrate, leaving nothing but space, bodies in it, and their tools of expression. This summer they are touring their work nationally, presenting performances & workshops in such cities as Louisville, Santa Fe, Salt Lake, City, Seattle, San Francisco, & Ventura. They are charting the progress of the tour on their blog, which can be viewed at http://oosimaginary.tumblr.com/.
In addition to these performances, Sam, Lisa, & Teddy will offer a workshop in Improvisational Performance on Friday, July 9th from 2-5 PM. The workshop will also take place at the Packing House, is open to the public and is priced on a sliding scale from $10-$30.
