THE CARNEGIE HALL SHOW - Wed. Jan 28th @ 8pm
Jessica Holmes, Christy Bruce, Rob Baker and James Gangl will be special guests in
The First Carnegie Hall Show of 2015! Wed, January 28, 8pm, Drake Hotel Underground, Toronto.
The National Theatre Of The World is pleased to begin 2015 with a few exciting surprises to our schedule. This month, Matt Baram (CityTv's Seed) and Naomi Snieckus (CBC' s Mr. Dee)have handed the reins to James Gangl (Honey Nut Cheerios How-To Dad), Rob Baker (Second City, Guidance), and Christy Bruce (Blind Date, Next Stage Festival's "DINK") who guarantee our audience an evening of improvised comedy unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. And our special guest Jessica Holmes (The Holmes Show) will be standing up and bringing some of her trademark hilarity to the stage, before joining us for the improvised radio play. Carnegie Hall Show expert-performer Chris Gibbs (Like Father, Like Son? Sorry!) will be hosting and performing alongside Christy, Rob and James, while making darn sure that they don't steal Matt and Naomi's jobs.
Musical Group WACKO NINJA (MATTY BURNS & LAURA TREMBLAY) bring their original and vibrant
music from the pub patio to our underground cabaret stage. Artist Lara Johnson will return with her improvised paintings providing actual capital 'A' Art based on the scenes on stage.
Two-time Dora Award Winner Waylen Miki will provide a soundscape of talented keyboard playing, this is going to be fantastic.
So bring your newly-acquired gym membership, foreign language cassette tapes, and begin the new year with the best resolution ever: have more laughs with The National Theatre Of The World!
The Carnegie Hall Show is an evening of improv and variety where some of the best comedians in Toronto throw away the rules and do whatever it takes to make the audience laugh. First, an original format The Retrospective, an 'awards-show-style' look back at the greatest improvised scenes of all time, made up before your eyes! Followed by an improvised old-fashioned radio play, complete with witty dialogue, commercial breaks and occasional emotional breakdowns. You never know who will be playing at The Carnegie Hall Show. Past guests include Colin Mochrie, Scott Thompson, Maestro Fresh Wes, 'Puppets Who Kill' creator Jon Pattison, and many more.
Some History The show began at the Bread and Circus Theatre in Kensington Market in 2009, playing every week for several years to packed and excited houses. While the show has had many temporary homes since; playing at the Second City, the Toronto Fringe, and even the 2012 Impro Festival in Berlin, Germany, the Drake is the show's first permanent home since the closing of the Bread and Circus in 2012.
