reBar East Bay
What if you could redo your teenage years? Join Bay Area Jewish creatives and intellectuals as they explore with humor and pride their Bar and Bat Mitzvah and other coming-of age experiences as an evolving part of life. Featured are:
--Thea Hillman, poet, author of "Intersex (for Lack of a Better Word)" and "Depending on the Light", and a San Francisco poetry slam champion who has performed her work across the country. --Jacob Kornbluth, an award-winning writer and director of feature films, TV and theater, including the feature films "Haiku Tunnel" and "The Best Thief in the World" and the documentary "Inequality for All." --Sylvia Paull, a Silicon Valley high-tech connector and strategist who blogs about her experiences, and hosts monthly tech and women's events at Berkeley Rep and the Hillside Club. --Anthony Mordechai-Tzvi Russell, a singer of Yiddish and cantorial music and creator of "Convergence," a multi-media blend of Yiddish and Hebrew songs with African-American spirituals. --Jessica Tully, an award-winning artist and organizer working primarily in video and participatory practices. Her rock operas, civic engagement strategies and performance videos take place underwater, on football fields, at state capitols, major museums, the Bay Bridge and the ballot box. --Dan Wolf, actor, rapper, playwright, director, producer and educator who is a founding member of the Hip Hop collective Felonious, adjunct faculty at A.C.T. and managing producer for JCCSF's 3200 Stories.
reBar is a project of Reboot. reBar East Bay is made possible through the generous support of the Koret Foundation, the Norman E. Alexandar Foundation, the Walter and Elise Haas Fund and the JCC East Bay community.
