The Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God
A remarkable love, an incredible heist, an extraordinary funeral, and an impassioned search for answers to the profound mysteries of humanity. From Governor General Award winning playwright, Djanet Sears, comes a beautiful and deeply moving story set in present-day Negro Creek - a 200 year old Black community in Western Ontario. Rainey Baldwin-Johnson is a country doctor struggling to come to terms with the loss of her daughter, the disintegration of her marriage and an eccentric elderly father who is on an astonishing crusade.
Ellipsis Tree Collective is proud to bring this incredibly arresting story to life for the first time for Calgary audiences.
This production is dedicated to the memory of Kathleen Foreman.
