Transitions
he first segment of the Transitions Program is the scene LAST RIGHTS from the 5-act play HITCHHIKE by Joanna Pucci. It features two characters, the passenger, an 80-year-old man and the driver, of indeterminate age. As the scene progresses it becomes clear that this is more than a normal taxi ride since the driver speaks to the man about events in his life which fade in and out of focus as he crosses a long bridge to his "final" destination.
The second segment of the program is the play WE INTERRUPT written by local playwright, Jane McAdams, about a widow, Lily, who is coping with the recent death of her husband, Joe. Supporting characters include Katie, her teenage granddaughter, her handyman Douglas and his teen nephew, and her friend, Cynthia, who is the president of the local Hospital auxiliary. Joe appears as a speaking character to help Lilly cope. Katie's energy and creativity provide the catalyst that help to ease Lilly's adjustment.
