SHAKE
Life upside down. In reverse.
Written by Joshua Fardon, Shake is a funny and disturbing exploration of deeply troubled people struggling to survive in an unfamiliar, sorrowful and shaken world. Set in post-9/11 Manhattan, the play happens backwards over a series of 12 months, starting in August 2002 and going back to September 2001.
Fardon's vivid exploration of hope, despair, betrayal and loss are brought to life by a stellar NOTE cast. After 9/11, Peggy (Ovation nominee Alina Phelan) decides to end her pregnancy, quit her mundane job and pursue her acting career. Peggy's boyfriend Bill (Ovation nominee Joe Egender) struggles to help his friend Matthew (Troy Blendell), who refuses to believe his wife died in one of the towers. Claire (Hiwa Bourne), a woman with a mysterious past, tries to save the hopes and dreams of all three characters with disastrous consequences. Michelle Gardner, Linda Graves, Alana Dietze and Bridgette Campbell complete the cast.
Shake is directed by award-winning director Kiff Scholl for Theatre of NOTE.
