Cooks & Books evening with Frank Falcinelli & Frank Castronovo, authors of The Frankies
Join us at the Corson Building in Seattle on June 22nd for a Cooks & Books evening to meet the Two Frankies: creators of Brooklyn's wildly popular Frankies Spuntino, Manhattan's Frankies 17 Spuntino, Prime Meats, and Cafe Pedlar on the Lower East Side. Their new book is modeled after a 19th century carpenter's manual; old fashioned in look but full of the two chefs irreverent wit and tips, techniques and recipes gathered from their own kitchen, and from their stints in some of the world's best restaurants. Childhood friends, the two Frankies literally crossed paths on a Manhattan street in 2003 and once reunited decided to create a restaurant that served the Italian American food of their childhood--only better. They purchased an old social club and re-invented it into one of Brooklyn's favorite hangouts: a restaurant with a garden, a garage where they make wine and on any day you might find guests gathered around a bonfire or some famous musician spinning records. One thing you will always find at Frankies Spuntino: the best kind of deeply flavored, comforting food; for at Frankies Spuntino "every day is Sunday." The Two Frankies are also opening their first "outside of NYC" restaurant in Portland, Oregon (winter, 2011) with the help and support of their good friend Duane Sorensen, founder of Stumptown Coffee. Come to our casual in-and-out of the garden party to meet these two great chefs and share wine, food and stories; Matt Dillon will be serving food inspired by the lessons in the Spuntino Kitchen Companion and Manual-- it will be a great kickoff to the summer season of great eating.
